In this book, several controversies related to implant dentistry have been addressed to help clarify certain issues. The first part deals with the materials, surface modifications, basic implant designs, and forms of dental implants and how each of them may affect or modify the treatment outcomes. The second part explores the surgical controversies in dental implants, discussing the correct time of implant placement and placement techniques. The third part concludes with controversies involved with the prosthetics part of implants which include the type of prosthesis retention, implant platforms and loading protocols. The last part deals with the controversial issues of placing implants in medically compromised individuals. Placement of implants in such patients is always challenging and with challenge, comes controversy.
