Craniofacial trauma still remains the common health problem and significant workload in many maxillofacial units. Historical treatment has given way to newer techniques, advancements in surgical techniques. A surgeon however, is often required to make a clinical decision that lie within the gray zone. When there are different approaches to surgical management, it is often not a matter of right or wrong, but rather what the surgeon believes gives the best results. The purpose of this book is to highlight current areas of controversies in mandibular trauma management and to review the most applicable literature in an attempt to provide some clarity, and possibly resolution to the presented topics. At minimum, these topics should generate discussion. The result is that the surgeon is required to make a judgement call and the best surgeons are those who couple the existing scientific literature with clinical experience.
