This book is written in the form of a series of conversations between the author and different parts of life. These parts of life range from physical things like weeds, sugar, water and hemp to more abstract things like education, war, and the transformation of society, and finally to more personal, psychological things such as anger, love, judgement, freedom and responsibility. The book has a strong theme of the possibilities for healing the many troubles of life.

Autorenporträt
Sally Patch was born in 1948 in England. She spent her childhood making and building things. After going to Guildford Art School in the late 60's to study photography she became a freelance photographer in London for seven years. Needing somewhere to live she bought a very dilapidated house and renovated it; building, that she had so loved in her childhood had re-entered her life. She had two sons, and in 1983 she decided to emigrate to Australia where she helped her brother in his business making unusual pottery. Eventually she started making her own sculptures and held sculpture classes in her home which she had built out of mud bricks. In 1999 intense grief pushed her off her perch of comfort into an unexpected journey of self-reflection, and discovery. This led to a lot of volunteer work at places like Lifeline where the worked on the telephones, Paradise Kids where she became a buddy to children suffering from grief and loss, Hopewell Hospice, Headway, and eventually to the Vipassana Meditation Organisation. This is her first book.
