JoAnne W. Putnam, Ph.D., is Dean of Education and Professional Studies at University of Maine at Presque Isle. JoAnne W. Putnam is currently on educational leave from the University of Maine. She is at Ilisagvik College in Barrow, Alaska, with the Inupiat Teacher Preparation Program. Dr. Putnam was a special education teacher before earning her doctorate at the University of Minnesota in 1983. Her research and publications have focused on cooperative learning, teaching in diverse classrooms, and community inclusion. Dr. Putnam is the author of Cooperative Learning in Diverse Classrooms (Merrill/Prentice Hall, 1997).
