I. William Zartman is director of the African studies program at the School of Advanced International Relations, Johns Hopkins University. He is the author and editor of numerous books, including The Practical Negotiator, Mediation in Middle East Conflicts, and Ripe for Resolution: Conflict and Intervention in Africa. Victor A. Kremenyuk is deputy director of the Institute for USA and Canada Studies, Academy of Sciences of Russia, and a Doctor of Sciences, and has published widely in Russian and other languages.
