Active belt surveillance around ebola recoveries was carried out in Guinea as a pilot project in 2016. Several organizations supported the Guinean Ministry of Health for this project. Maurice Nzogu ist Doktor der Medizin der Katholischen Universität Bukavu (DR Kongo) und hat einen Masterabschluss in internationaler Zusammenarbeit und humanitärer Hilfe. Mit 10 Jahren humanitärer und klinischer Erfahrung war er mit International Medical Corps in der Ebola-Reaktion in Liberia und Guinea tätig. Derzeit ist er Koordinator des Gesundheitsprogramms bei IRC.
