When world-famous photographer, Clay Arnold, visits his son in the Keweenaw Peninsula, little does he know that they and their friends will be trapped under Brockway Mountain by an angry, cancer-stricken man who seeks a sacred and mystical Megis shell that he believes has the power to cure him. The Keweenaw Peninsula is located in the northernmost part of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, a region known as Copper Country because of huge deposits of copper ore that were mined for many years. The Keweenaw was also home to ancient Paleo-Indians whose contemporary Chippewa descendants still protect the Megis shell's incredible healing powers from non-believers. Copper Evening is the fifth story in the Clay Arnold series and is a spellbinding adventure that pits Clay and his son against a desperate, wealthy adversary and the Windigo, an evil man-eating spirit, that lives under the mountain. The tale is replete with mystical Indians, a copper mine over a mile deep, ancient cave art, and precious diamonds. Only perseverance and camaraderie among Clay and his friends and a touch of Indian sorcery can save them from being entombed underground forever.
Autorenporträt
During his adult life Stuart Fabe has enjoyed a couple of diverse but very meaningful careers, ranging from raising charitable dollars for important institutions, to creating art, and writing novels. He began his professional life in the early 1970s working with delinquent and at-risk children who appeared in juvenile court. He then focused on organizing and conducting successful fundraising campaigns for vital organizations such as Cincinnati Children's Hospital, the Jewish Hospital, and the Cincinnati Zoo.Throughout the decades that he raised charitable funds, Stuart always maintained a photographic darkroom where he escaped the rigors ofhis daily work to print fine art photographs that he exhibited at art shows and galleries throughout the Midwest. In 2005 he moved away from Cincinnati, Ohio, to Putnam County, Indiana, to concentrate on creating art full-time, including intricate weaving on hardshell gourds and photographing the world around him and the heavens above. It wasn't until ten years ago, however, that he began writing suspense novels in a serious way. Stuart is fascinated by doing research for his books and creating intriguing stories with memorable characters."Given Names" is his tenth novel and begs the questions: "What would you do if you won the lottery? Who would you tell? And, what would you give away?"He enjoys the solitude of living in the bucolic countryside near Greencastle with his life-partner, Marla, and together they contribute to the health and well-being of their family, their community, and their animals and friends.
