In Indian Business environment, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is relatively a young subject compared to the developed economies. Of late it is gaining substantial attention among Corporates, Government, Non-Government organisations and Academia. Till recently, work in this field has been restricted to understanding the perception of various stakeholders and issues they consider as part of CSR. Of late few companies are presenting sustainability and/or CSR reports. Primary data analysis indicates that NTPCians' preference for the social, environment and financial performance is the same among the three levels of managers. This study used ESG scores estimated by India Index Services and Products Limited and financial data from Capital Line Limited. The statistical techniques used for analysing the secondary data include trend analysis, correlation, cluster analysis, correspondence analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. With these techniques, the secondary data is analysed and the research hypotheses are tested. The results show that there is no significant linkage between financial and social performance from 2005 to 2009, with and without the lag effect.
