The study is quantitative and qualitative in nature using secondary data. The primary objective of the study is to understand the programme of corporate social responsibility by BHEL in general and BHEL in Tiruchirappalli in particular. Corporate social responsibility is now a day's more popular than any other concept in the corporate sectors owing to emerging trends in the field of stakeholder attitude. With the effect of globalization, industries need to compete globally and try to extend their commitment to the people through corporate social responsibility activities. Therefore corporate social responsibility is the key to increase the reputation among the customer employees, public and corporate sectors. Government itself formulated its own policy regarding corporate social responsibility activities by monitoring the corporate social responsibility activities initiated by the concerned companies. Hence, this concept consists of three major terms such as corporate, social andresponsibility. Because of the importance and effectiveness of the corporate social responsibility and its components, the researcher coined a new term as "corpsores" .
