This study examined the relationship between Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the performance of selected quoted firms in Nigeria during the study period (2000-2009). It identified the types of CSR activities of selected firms; determined the influence of industry group on CSR disclosures of the target firms; analyzed the influence of firms characteristics (firms size, financial leverage, and assets turnover) on the relationship between CSR and the performance of the selected firms; and examined the relationship between CSR and the performance of selected quoted firms in Nigeria. This was with a view to assess the validity of concerns regarding a trade-off between investment in CSR and profitability.
