The present study is designed with one variable each from cognitive, affective and environment correlation of academic achievement. There is no large scale data on adolescents' especially at senior secondary stage. Therefore an effort was made to examine the relationship of academic achievement with three independent variables. The present study is expected to influence current understanding on scholastic achievement of adolescents in relation parental encouragement, achievement motivation and social competence as a major source of learning which has been inadequately prioritised at secondary schools. Academic achievement contributes to happiness, satisfaction, comfort and well-being of the individual. A number of studies have been conducted across globe on achievement motivation and parental encouragement that are considered as the greater influencing factors of academic achievement. A little information is found in Indian Literature on such significant factors.Such gaps in knowledge prompted and inspired researchers to explore the extent of relationship of such important variables with academic achievement.
