Four correlates of interethnic conflict were identified in this study. These are political power competition, previous history of contact or ancient hatred, ethno cultural factors and factors related to economic benefits. For all ethnic groups who participated in the study these factors are found to be significant. Across ethnic groups; First, political factor have been found to provoke the Tigre students for inter ethnic conflict than other ethnic groups. Second, previous history of contact or ancient hatred provokes the Oromo students when compared to others. Third, ethno cultural factors also contribute a lot for inter ethnic conflict when compared to other ethnic groups for Oromo students. (4) The economic factors have differences only for Amhara and Oromo, Amhara versus the other three groups. (5) All factors do not have differences in provoking inter ethnic conflict for male and female students.
