The paper analyzes the characteristics of governance in different public policy networks. Governance is one of the constituent elements of networks and we can defined in two main lines: (a) as a control mechanism; (b) as a group cohesion mechanism. The guiding proposition is that, for different networks, different manifestations of governance correspond in their expressions of control and cohesion. As a theoretical basis, the statements of the social approach of networks, relational governance and policy networks are used. The research question is: Are there specific governance characteristics in different public policy networks? The answer found is that there are signs of a correspondence between the nature of governance mechanisms and the specificity of networks, especially in the case of care networks, although in each network there are variations in favor and against the proposition. The article bring a theoretical benefit on the interface between governance and networks process, and a methodological benefit offering a framework of qualitative and operational indicators.
