Automotive consultant and CPA, Annette Dupart receives a call from attorney, Shawn Kilty that her favorite client, Stoney Showalter has died from a suspicious death. He asks that she come to Blytheville, AR, as soon as possible to receive documents that Stoney left for her. Five months pregnant she is reluctant to make the hour and a half drive from Germantown, TN but she agrees to go the next day anyway. Shawn gives her a packet of documents naming her as the back-up Executrix of Stoney's estate should something happen to his attorney. Stoney left a note stressing the importance of going to Big Lake Nature Reserve with Shawn to find key evidence of a murder case over 30 years old. Near dusk, Annette and Shawn no sooner get out of Shawn's SUV when a shot rings out killing Shawn instantly. He falls into Annette forcing her to drop her cellphone and purse before she begins running through cotton fields to avoid being killed by the shooter. Running for her life Annette finds refuge in an abandoned one-room schoolhouse. No phone and no way to contact anyone, she only has her holstered Beretta Nano to defend herself. She spends hours in total darkness, waiting to be found while worrying about her unborn child and how she might defend herself. She racks her brain recalling people she met while calling on Stoney trying to figure out who is trying to kill her. Exhausted from running, no water and not sleeping, Annette recalls scenes from her childhood when she went to a carnival with her father shortly before his death at an oilrig accident. He gave her some cotton candy which made her very happy. Now, being hunted and dwelling on the past, Annette was suffering from Cotton Candy Bluz memories.
