Coumarin has been reported to exhibit a range of biological activities. A number of coumarin based molecules have shown remarkable antibacterial activity. In the present work we report design synthesis and evaluation of a series some coumarin based Schiff's bases as potential antimicrobial agents. These molecules have been synthesized using simple chemical reactions and tested for in-vitro antimicrobial activity on gram +ve, gram -ve bacteria and fungi.

Dr. Meenakshi Deodhar is a Ph.D in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. She has guided many M.Pharm. students for their projects. Her research area is design and synthesis of coumarin and chalcone based molecules as potential therapeutic agents.
