For many industrial companies in Europe, product counterfeiting is a serious and growing problem. If in the coming years no quick and effective action is taken, more and more companies will suffer from this criminal activity. It is more than likely that your company is in this case. Counterfeiting has grown from a small-scale industry to a truly global industry and has become a very worrying phenomenon for the companies involved. The means and methods used by international organizations and companies to fight counterfeiting are increasingly costly and efficient, but the counterfeiters' reactivity, creativity and outbidding seem to have no limits. A working group composed of graduate students from business schools studied this problem and produced this thesis for the benefit of companies wishing to learn about the tools available to them to defend themselves and fight against counterfeiting. This advice ranges from information on how to detect this problem to legal means and organizations set up in Europe and in China.
