Among the adverse events that can occur when ingesting cow's milk, protein allergy is the most frequent in children under five years of age, constituting a health problem, especially in the first year of life. It can be associated or confused with cow's milk protein intolerance, lactose intolerance and gastro-oesophageal reflux. This makes management by the physician more difficult and causes poor quality of life for the child with family stress. Most of the time it can be prevented by maintaining exclusive breastfeeding for the first year of life or at least six months. Although these problems tend to disappear with age, this is not always the case and differentiating each one of them is fundamental to achieving the well-being of the sick person. The book defines the terminology of the group of diseases, the behavior to be followed with each of them and emphasizes the allergy to cow's milk proteins, their differential diagnosis and treatment.
