Autorenporträt
"Crazy Colorful Turkeys" is the fifth children's book by Vail Johnson, a spirited 9-year-old from Pilot Point, Texas. Her literary journey began with the well-received "Vail's Tales", which topped Amazon sales lists in the fall of 2019. Vail's backstory is a poignant tale of a young girl who, unbeknownst to her or her family, was racing against time. The undiagnosed heart condition that claimed her life could not dim the light of her creativity and dreams. On the night before her death in August 2016, her mom Susan Chance vividly recalls the moment when Vail expressed her aspirations: "We were walking up to the house from the barn after she finished her last riding lesson, and she told me, 'Mama, I want to be an author when I grow up.'
