The creative economy has been widely discussed around the world. Technological development has transformed intellectual capital and knowledge into the main raw materials of the creative industries. It can be found in the most varied segments of the economy, such as popular festivals, the subject of this study. The aim of this research is to analyze and identify the impact of the Festival of Roses and Flowers, in the light of creative economy theory, on promoting local development in the city of Barbacena. To this end, a field study was carried out with a quantitative and qualitative approach, in which a semi-structured questionnaire was administered to 30 entrepreneurs during the event. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. As for the results, it can be said that the event studied contributes to the generation of seasonal jobs, promotes tourism and has a positive impact on the economic, social and cultural development of Barbacena and the region.
