Education is regarded as the key factor in overcoming the barriers that women face and the basic tool for empowering children and bringing them into the main stream of development. Education not only provides knowledge and skills to improve health and livelihoods, but it empowers women to take their right place in the society and its developmental process. But in Northern Nigeria, it is a different kettle of fish as far as education for the girl -education is concern. The education for the girl-child became an esotericism for Patriarchalism, cultural practices, social taboos, superstitious believes, early marriages and/or teenage pregnancy, as well as the use of the girl-child as a tool for suicide bombing by the Boko Haram- terrorist group in the Northern Nigeria are some of the factors that deprive the girl-child from the essential life indicators and constitute major barriers to the education opportunities of the girl-children. The cumulative effects of these child rights violations, exploitative and unjust treatments have had profound negative impacts on education opportunities available to the Female Gender in the Northern Nigeria.
