Produktbeschreibung
This book is about a research on crisis management performances of Turkish hotels in a large scale tourism crisis. The study used an adapted framework in six stages of crisis management. The number of research on crisis management in hospitality organisations is very limited in the literature, so this study specifically focused on five-star hotels and aimed to reveal the types of crisis management strategies in a crisis situation. 24 specific questions in Turkish were developed. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with the senior managers of some hotels and 24 questions were asked to each of the respondents. Content analysis was done on the collected data. The results identified a range of recommendations for hospitality industry. Turkish hotels were found to be inadequate in the use of appropriate crisis management strategies in crisis situations. Of the recommendations suggested in this study, one key suggestion for the hotels is to develop a formal crisis management plan for a future crisis in the tourism sector and regularly practice it within their organisations as crisis in tourism is likely to happen often.
