By providing a youth centered approach to studying school reforms, this book offers valuable insight into how students experience changes in school environments. The eleven case studies are divided into two parts: part one describes and analyzes programs of reform that turned out contrary to the intentions of adult reformers, while part two examines newer programs that put students at the center of reform. Particularly concerned with school reform initiatives that tackle issues of social justice, such as race, class, and gender equity.
