Konkan is major finger millet growing tract of Maharashtra. There is wide scope to increase the yield potential of Nagli by using appropriate production technology. Farmers of this region are very often using 35 to 50 days old seedlings for transplanting. Use of appropriate aged seedlings for transplanting are important non cash inputs for realizing the higher productivity. Besides this, earlier studies reveal that judicious and proper use of fertilizers can markedly increase the yield and improve the quality of nagli. Given the importance of nitrogen fertilization on the yield, it is necessary to know the best dose for each variety as well as its influence on components of yield and other agronomic parameters such as the life cycle, plant height, lodging and moisture content. The detailed information on research based crop establishment techniques are given in this book.
