They differ in their performance with respect to flowering behaviour, fruit set and fruit development. Thus, it has become essential to study the phenology of flowering, impact of pruning and changes in the biochemical parameters of different varieties of aonla at various developmental stages to increase the yield and quality of fruits.

Dr. P.R. Kamalkumaran is Graduate in Agriculture, Post Graduate and Doctorate in Horticulture from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Tamilnadu. He qualified ICAR NET examination in 2004 and started his career as Assistant Professor in 2009. He has more than 40 publications including research papers, books, book chapter and booklets.
