Dick Francis, geb. 1920, war viele Jahre Englands erfolgreichster Jockey, bis ein mysteriöser Sturz 1956 seine Karriere beendete. Er schrieb über dreißig Jahre lang Thriller, die mehr oder weniger das Pferderenn- und Wettmilieu als Hintergrund haben. Dick Francis lebte mit seiner Frau auf den Cayman-Inseln, wo er 2010 verstarb.

Felix Francis, geboren 1963 als jüngerer Sohn des Bestsellerautors und Ex-Jockeys Dick Francis. Er firmierte bei vier Büchern als Co-Autor seines Vaters und leistete die Recherchearbeit für viele weitere. Bevor er eigene Thriller in der Tradition seines Vaters zu schreiben begann, arbeitete er als Physiklehrer. Felix Francis lebt in England.
