Cryosurgery has been used extensively for the treatment of various conditions since the earliest times in medical literature. Cutaneous lesions had been the routine field of use of this modality until 1960s when cryosurgery began to be seriously considered for its use in oral cavity. Although, all oral lesions can be eradicated completely by other modalities like- by surgical excision, laser surgery, and photodynamic therapy but cryosurgery proves in our research to be an effective treatment modality and perhaps has various advantages over the other procedures for example, for patients- Avoidance of Trypanophobia, and Tomophobia, less discomfort, minimal/ no trismus and no bleeding and for operator- it is simple, has versatile treatment spectrum and very low cost.
