Cerebral vascular event (CVE) is the second leading cause of death worldwide, where two thirds are of ischemic origin, causing long-term disability; the Mexican Institute of Social Security has described through the Comprehensive Care Protocol - Brain Code (PAI brain code) corresponding actions assigned to medical staff in first, second and third level of care in the management of people with CVE to establish a diagnosis and timely treatment. Therefore, in this research study we observed for 7 days a group of 30 patients who attended the emergency department of a second level hospital with a clinical diagnosis of CVE, finding that there are several factors that contribute to not complying with the time established by the PAI Brain Code.
