Autorenporträt
Mircea Cartarescu es el más importante narrador rumano de la actualidad. De su obra poética destaca El Levante (1990). Saltó a la narrativa con Nostalgia (1993), que se abre con su relato "El Ruletista". Siguió Lulu (1994), y Cegador (1996-2007), trilogía que está siendo recuperada por Impedimenta en traducción directa del rumano. En 2015 publicó la novela Solenoide, considerada su obra más madura hasta la fecha. Suyos son también Las Bellas Extranjeras (2010, Premio Euskadi de Plata) y El ojo castaño de nuestro amor (2012). Sus textos han sido vertidos a varios idiomas. En 2018 recibió el Premio Formentor de las Letras y algunos consideran que podría ser el primer escritor en lengua rumana en obtener el Premio Nobel.
