Autorenporträt
Duncan Smith is an Australian author and musician. He specializes in musical-novels, a new genre which combines music and literature. In 2012, Smith wrote 'The Vortex Winder', a magic-realist novel about the adventures of Jimmy Brandt. Smith's rock band, Lighthouse XIII, recorded an album of songs, each of which fitted the events of the story. A sequel, 'The Maelstrom Ascendant', followed two years later. Smith had formerly studied philosophy of science at UNSW, during which he wrote 'Cultown', a novel about a cult called the Milinish. The book featured themes in science and religion. In 2016, Smith revised and updated the novel, once again adding a full soundtrack album by Lighthouse XIII. Duncan Smith also works as a guitar and literature teacher in Sydney, Australia. His Sparks blog appears on his website www.vortexwinder.com
