This book is a collection of short essays written from 2016 to 2019. The essays set forth my reactions to the many political and social attitudes and disruptions during the above years. Their topics range from sexual abuse and illegal immigration to American ballplayers acting up in China and censorship at the YMCA, and, of course, to the seemingly fanatic hatred of our President, which has become so prevalent since 2016. If I were to try to define the USA over the past twenty to thirty years I think certain topics would have to appear over and over. One would be freedom of speech and thought versus the continued attempt, conscious or unconscious, by the news media, our institutions of higher education, and even many of our larger corporations to force conformity of thought in such topics as racial and sexual relationships, immigration (legal and illegal), police violence, and gun control At the core of so much of our political and social upheaval, and our so-apparent inability to solve our problems, are an often seemingly schizophrenic media and a do-nothing, polarized Congress, both of which continue to pour gasoline on the flames of anger in the public sphere, increasing rather than helping solve the growing polarization in the populace at large.
