As a boy who grew up in a male dominated and rather chauvinistic society and family, the manner the gender issue was raised by the serial drama writers inspired me. In my country women, even if they were well educated, would likely be harassed by their husbands. The aim of this research book is to make a contribution to the improvement of such kinds of serial dramas using the media which aimed at improving the status of women in the Ethiopian society. The results of my study reveals that women may be victims of male chauvinists due to cultural prejudices created by the society. The serial drama has depicted the real problems of women in Ethiopia by exposing how they are disadvantaged in many aspects of life; especially in access to and control of resources, in participation in decision making at all levels including at the household level.
