In a globalizing and rapidly changing world, meeting people from different cultural backgrounds has become more and more common. However, such cross-cultural encounters are not always without problems. The present work focusses on the problems of communication in interactions taking place between Moroccan EFL learners and English native speakers. In their interpretation of others' message, be they spoken or written, interlocutors rely on their own value system and the representations of others. Through contrasting the Moroccan and Anglo-Saxon cultural value systems, we try to predict the areas which might present potential pitfalls during both face to face and face to page interactions.
