In a globalizing and rapidly changing world, meeting people from different cultural backgrounds has become more and more common. However, such cross-cultural encounters are not always without problems. The present work focusses on the problems of communication in interactions taking place between Moroccan EFL learners and English native speakers. In their interpretation of others' message, be they spoken or written, interlocutors rely on their own value system and the representations of others. Through contrasting the Moroccan and Anglo-Saxon cultural value systems, we try to predict the areas which might present potential pitfalls during both face to face and face to page interactions.

El Dr. Moulay Sadik Maliki nació en Errachidia, Marruecos, el 23 de agosto de 1963. Es profesor de inglés en la Escuela de Arte y Humanidades de Ain Chock, Universidad Hassan II de Casablanca desde 1988. Es autor de una variedad de artículos sobre diversos temas que van desde la comunicación intercultural, la cultura y la lectura hasta la diversidad lingüística en Marruecos.
