Ha publicado más de cuarenta libros de ficción, ensayo y poesía traducidos a varios idiomas. Nació en Grecia en 1938, y emigró a Suecia en 1964, donde consolidó su carrera literaria. Ha traducido del sueco al griego a grandes autores como Ingmar Bergman y August Strindberg, así como del griego al sueco a Yannis Ritsos o Mikis Theodorakis.
