The book discusses the orthodoxy and heterodoxy of economic policy, both from a theoretical point of view and empirically analyzing Angola's monetary and fiscal policies in the period 2004 - 2018. The first sections establish the criteria for classifying economic theories as orthodox and heterodox, and describe the main ideas of economic orthodoxy in terms of the role of money and the state. Then the same is done for two heterodoxes, the post-Keynesian and the Marxist. Finally, and based on the previous description, we analyze the evolution of Angola's monetary and fiscal policies, in relation to the problems of output growth and the reduction of unemployment and inflation, as to their orthodox or heterodox character. Besides citing authors known in the world, the book cites important ministerial documents in order to justify the arguments presented. The study is a resource for all interested parties who wish to know the theoretical debate on money and the role of the state as the empirical information of the monetary and fiscal policies engendered in Angola after the end of the civil war. The author is open to criticism and contributions to improve the study.
