There is a lot of talk about the limitations of Brazilian education, the unevenness of study areas, which implies that some areas are undervalued; inadequate classrooms and buildings in teaching and learning institutions; insufficient funds to maintain courses and schools. This text presents ways of pointing out that the limitations mentioned are not the result of chance, but of a rationality that, as well as legitimising compromising contradictions, encourages what is understood as coercion in education.

Art educator, scriptwriter and theatre teacher with a master's degree in education, a degree in theatre and an undergraduate degree in performing arts. As well as working as an elementary school teacher, he has worked in various complementary education institutions, such as social assistance reference centres. He defends the rights of children and adolescents.
