Knitting and crochet have been a lifelong passion for Val Pierce-her father taught her to knit at the tender age of five and she has never looked back. Pierce spent years working for major yarn companies and designers as a check knitter before she began to design her own patterns. Now her original work has appeared in many knitting and crochet magazines and she has published a number of knitting and crochet books. Pierce teaches needlecraft to adults and children, and has her own website at crossedneedles.co.uk.
