This book entitled "Cytotoxic Potential and Phytochemical Analysis of Kozhikode Leaf-Flower plant, Phyllanthus kozhikodianus Sivar. & Mani. (Euphorbiaceae)" reveals the cytotoxicity of P. kozhikodianus and its phytochemical analysis using GC-MS assay. This is an erect annual herb, endemic to Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Eastern Himalayas. Phenols, tannins, steroids, terpenoids, cardiac glycosides, proteins and amino acids were present in the methanolic extract of P. kozhikodianus. A considerable extend of clastogenic and non-clastogenic abnormalities were observed in the study. Severe changes in the cell size and nuclear enlargement were also detected. The chemical profiling of the methanolic extract of P. kozhikodianus was determined by using GC-MS analysis. In the case of methanolic extract, the total number of chemical compounds detected by GC-MS was found to be 22. The compounds were categorized into 13 classes of compounds such as ketone, fatty alcohol, triterpene, ester, amine, organic acid, aldehyde, terpene, diterpene, vitamin, phenol, sterol, and fatty acid. The study reveals the potential cytotoxic and phytochemical constituents of P. kozhikodianus.
