Born in Fes, Morocco, Graduate of Hebrew University in History and Arabic, PhD in Chinese and Islamic History from Univ. of California, Berkeley in 1974. Professor of Islamic and Chinese History at Hebrew University. World wide lecturer, in Modern Middle Eastern, Islamic and Chinese subjects, author of 29 books and over 100 scholarly articles.
