DADS, FATHERS, AND EMPTY CHAIRS is a collection of two novels and two novellas from the author of A DOG'S DAY OF SUMMER. These previously unpublished works of fiction explore the very real relationships that are intertwined in families and communities while dealing with the tragedies and the normal stress and foibles of everyday survival. The four stories will resonate with anyone that has ever been a father, wants to be a father, longs for a father, or ever knew a father. SINS LIKE A MORNING MIST: It is the Fall of 2019 and Darlene, a troubled teenage girl living in Murell's Inlet, South Carolina, has her Guardian Angel exasperated yet hopeful as her Earthly charge encounters a couple of diverse friends while also attempting to re-engage with her widowed father. THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME: Set in the present day, the celebrated reporter, Nadine Bolivar, is dispatched to Trieste, Italy to ascertain how a reclusive man, Nicholas Hunter, just won the Nobel Peace Prize for Astro-Physics despite having no formal training in that discipline. The answer surprisingly lies on the Florida Gulf Coast in 1982 when a group of teenagers make a trip to a midnight movie screening of their favorite rock band. WHERE IT FALLS, THERE IT WILL LIE: In the troubled and turbulent region of the Polish Corridor near Gdnast during the Spring of 1925, various townspeople are faced with the dilemma of either appeasing or fighting back against their Prussian oppressors. ALISIO'S GIFT: On an idyllic Caribbean island in 1957 two fifteen year olds - one the son of a famous Hollywood swashbuckler and the other an islander named Jose Cardenal - are set adrift onto the open seas due to a violent storm and are left to their own devices to fight for survival.
