This book covers an intelligent alert system that continuously monitors the living quarters of an unattended elderly or disabled resident and can automatically issues message to family members or helpers through Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM). Here Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) is used to view the whole day activity of an elder or disable people. Heart rate is a very important health parameter which is directly related to the soundness in the human cardiovascular system. Heart rate is the number of times the heart beats per minute (bpm), reflecting different physiological conditions. This book describes a technique of measuring the heart rate through a pulse sensor placed on fingertip or earlobe. The heart rate of a person will get displayed on LCD. If there is any discrepancy in their pulse rate, then the GSM connected to Arduino will give an immediate message to the family member or guardian. This model monitors and detects the leakage of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) using gas sensor and alerts the unattended person by producing an alarm sound through buzzer and also provides an alert message to the authorized person.
