The present Book has been organized in six chapters and comprehensive results have been drawn with the help of data generated directly from the field and from secondary sources. The opening chapter deals with introduction of the topic of research along with aims, objectives, hypothesis, review of literature, justification and the scope of the study, conceptual framework and limitations of the research under the study. The second chapter highlights the introduction of the study area. The third chapter discusses the micro-level study of the selected sample villages by using stratified random sampling technique. The fourth chapter explains the detail scenario of dairy farmer's socio-economic characteristics i.e. family size, education level, religions and caste, type of family, type of stable, size of landholding etc.The fifth chapter elaborates the detail scenario of milk as an important Food Substitute, the role of Co-operative movement in dairy activity, economics of dairy farming, factors of cost of production. The Sixth chapter gives total essence of thesis in brief as well as important findings and recommendations for the study region based on the present work.
