Autorenporträt
"Daisy The Diabetic Donkey" written by Jessica Lewis is an exceptional Type 1 Diabetes learning tool aimed towards helping newly diagnosed children and their care team to understand what this new lifestyle may entail, helping all to adapt to a new routine. Jess lives in the beautiful Keystone state with her two daughters. She has been a pediatric home health nurse for five years, assisting children with specialized needs to navigate unique routines every day; making them as fun-filled as possible! Jess has a med-surg hospital background as well as a pediatric nursing background. She enjoys quality time spent with her daughters and writing in her free time. As a mother, Jess empathizes with the importance of children feeling accepted, no matter how dissimilar their lives be. She states "both advocation and education are key in the adaptation of all necessary persons involved" Working in and out of schools with these children, Jess reiterates the importance of making children embrace their individuality; stating "No one person is a duplicate of another; and that in itself, makes life beautiful". Jessica hopes for her book to be used in homes and facilities of all kinds to motivate all people to become educated, in a fun way!
