Der Stricker, 1. Hälfte 13. Jh. Sprachliche Indizien verweisen auf eine rheinfränkische Herkunft des Dichters; sein Wirkungsbereich war, wie Anspielungen in seinen Werken nahelegen, v. a. Österreich. Ob der Name als Berufsbezeichnung (Seiler) des Autors bzw. seiner Familie oder metaphorisch (für Dichten) zu verstehen ist, bleibt offen. Seine Schaffenszeit liegt etwa zwischen 1220 und 1250.
