Return to Hawk Island and the village of Two Brooks in Manuela DaCosta's fifth book in the Hawk Island series... After a series of crimes, the villagers of Two Brooks continue to question their notions of love, justice, and courage. In the middle of the Atlantic, Hawk Island is isolated and defiant, much like its people. The islanders love and fight with conviction, seeking justice above all else. In the village of Two Brooks, a group of unconventional women known as The Sacristy fight for equality. Willing to face all consequences, these women turn the tables on the patriarchy, and the result will surprise them all. When a prominent citizen is implicated in a series of crimes, the Sacristy defies custom and establishes a shelter for victims of abuse, enraging the powers that be. Courageously defying the dogmas of their religion, these women won't back down in the fight for social justice and gender equality, proving that kindness is humanity's greatest gift. Exploring themes of culture, justice, equality, and kindness, Dark and Soulful Eyes will resonate with anyone interested in confronting social issues.
