Goths are often seen as darkly dressed individuals, who visit cemeteries, drink blood and listen to Marilyn Manson. These stereotypes are far from accurate representations. Dark Beauty strips away the myths and portrays Goths for who they really are. With a specific focus on Gothic performances in and around Johannesburg, South Africa, Dark Beauty depicts the acceptance and expression this subculture offers to its members. Researched by a non-Goth Dark Beauty draws its foundation from participant observation and focus groups with almost 80 local and international Gothic contributors to provide an objective account of this society.
