John Van der Kiste is a prolific author. He has written numerous books on British and European royalty. His biographies include Sons, Servants and Statesmen: The Men in Queen Victoria's Life, Emperor Francis Joseph, Kaiser Wilhelm II: Germany's Last Emperor, William and Mary and, with Coryne Hall, Once a Grand Duchess: Xenia, Sister of Nicholas II. John also writes historical articles and reviews for local and national journals. He has contributed to the New Dictionary of National Biography, and has also published a novel. He lives in South Brent, Devon.
