Werner H. Schmidt war nach Professuren in Wien, Kiel und Marburg von 1984 bis 2000 Professor für Altes Testament in Bonn und auch nach seiner Emeritierung in der Lehrerausbildung an den Universitäten in Koblenz und Köln tätig.
