Major advances in the field of biology coupled with advances in genomic and proteomic technologies, have led to an explosive growth in the biological information generated by the scientific community. So, there is an immediate requirement for computerized databases to support data storage, processing and retrieval activities. In the present scenario, computational knowledge is used for storing the ever-growing biological information in large electronic files called databases and for retrieving the same in the future. In the present study, a database entitled Salinity Stress in Rice (SSR) was developed as a database providing a platform to understand the past and present research activities with reference to salinity in rice. The information related to salinity in rice are collected from different sources like online journals, books, scientific literatures, research findings etc, compiled and organized them under the different sections like salt responsive genes, QTLs, ESTs, metabolites, etc. The database is created using ASP.NET (Active Server Pages.NET) as front end of the database and SQL as a backend used to store the information in table forms.
