After retiring as a professional player, Kevan joined the coaching staff of Stoke City. Kevan was appointed first-team coach in 2001, and later spent a spell as caretaker manager in October 2002. Kevan became Assistant Manager at Notts County in 2007, having held similar posts at both Stoke City and Burnley. Kevan rejected an approach from Crewe Alexandra to become their Assistant Manager.
