Autorenporträt
Matthew Francis was born in Washington DC and he studied psychology at The University of Washington. His Master's thesis was focused on the techniques of psychological manipulation. After his studies, he focused on facial expression and body movement. According to this theory, emotions are caused by our interpretations of these physiological reactions. He has asserted that the emotional meanings of the various facial expressions are largely universal which implies that they are rooted in our common human biology. Francis has done extensive work on the differences between spontaneous and simulated emotions.
